Hey guys, if any of you want to get a bible verse of the day on your friends page you can add the syndicated feed gospelcom_verse to your friends list :)

When I was at Remnant tonight, they were setting up in the back for the women's tea and fashion show tomorrow. Looked really nice the table settings they'd already done up, and the runway and flowers they'd done up front.

Challenge Question [Apr. 17th, 2005|10:39 pm]

Okay, c'mon I want you all to participate in this, to get you thinking about God's words and how he's using the church to speak to you!

What was encouraging, important, confusing, or otherwise stood out to you from this weekend's sermon? Did you all make it to service this weekend, which service? And, since this weekend's topic was the trinity, lets try and go for threes here and add a third question...what is your prayer request for the week?

my answerCollapse )

Fire! Fira! [Apr. 10th, 2005|11:20 pm]

The semon was was on fire tonight!(Pun not intended.) So many people(including one of my friends' friends who came for the first time) went forward. I cried. Seeing so many people respond to God's word(in whatever way) is so exciting for me.

For those of you who are 7:15 goers. Miles sure was funny tonight!

(crossposted from my journal) [Mar. 27th, 2005|07:30 pm]

Easter service was fantastic. Cox arena was pretty packed--the entire congregation in one service is definitely a power to be reckoned with--the arena holds 12,000 Miles (the pastor) said, and it was pretty close to full. But out of the entire service, one moment touched me more than the entire rest of the service combined.

Are you one of those people who cries at weddings? This was totally one of those moments--the "happiest choice you ever made" type of defining moment in your life. At the end they do altar call, where they ask the people who were just saved (decided that they want to ask Jesus to be their savior, and recognize the love he had for us by dying for our sin) to rise to their feet and then come down to the altar.

There was this older (mind you not elderly) couple at the other end of the row I was sitting in that stood up. And as the couple starts to make their way to the aisle, there was a girl, about my age--almost looked kind of familiar, I'm not sure whether she was part of our group or not--who followed them down, to accompany her newly saved parents (it was asked that friends and family feel free to do so). The expression on her face said it all. I couldn't even do justice to it in words--her parents chose Jesus today, and you could see she was just radiant and exuberant inside, barely able to contain her happiness.

It was just so touching that I just couldn't stop the tears from falling down my face as I watched them walk down to the altar, and then tens or maybe even hundreds of others deciding to make the same public statement of their newfound faith. The angels must have been ringing all kinds of bells up in heaven today.

The look of unshakable faith on that girl's face, that this was a moment she'd been waiting a heck of a long time for, praying over and over ceaselessly that her family would know the love of Jesus that she knew--and today was that day for her family. That's what Easter is all about--not bunnies and candy.

Prayer request [Mar. 26th, 2005|12:02 am]

Tonight was awesome!! I brought an unsaved friend with me. While The Katinas played and Miles spoke I cried for my lost friend. I pray that God will remind her of tonight's service and his love for her. Any prayers for Veronica would be much appreciated. Also that my lifestyle would continue to reflect God's love and that Vero would "date God" through my life and eventually come to know him personally as I do. Thanks so much.

Good Friday Service. [Mar. 25th, 2005|11:10 pm]

Did you guys see how many people went up for the alter call. AMAZING.
The whole night was great.

I came in late though, did anyone catch the name of the band that opened for the Katinas? I saw like two songs, really dug them, but wasn't able to catch who they were.

Last night's semon and what I took home from it... [Feb. 7th, 2005|06:27 pm]

Get uncomfortable!
If you feel like you're living a normal life & serving a normal God--you're not serving Jesus, because He is super natural.

Pslams 73 (NKJV)
Why are wicked people prospering while I'm serving God & suffering?

1) Things are not always what they seem.
The things of this world will never complete us--they are temporary & minuscule compared to God's surgery.

2) Is it worth it?
The difference comes from you and how your life is different than it would be if you were living in the ways of this world.
To please God <---> is to trust God.

Proverbs 3:5-7 (NKJV)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
When was the last time you sat in silence & listened to what God has to say?
God gives us rules & laws to provide order & avoid chaos, helping us enjoy life.
Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (NKJV)
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man's all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.

3) Take time to understand God's love.
What we think are so great (the things of this world) are horrid and barren in comparison to what a life with God brings. God wants you to revel in this life.

Romans 12:1-3 (NKJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Jeremiah 29: 11-14 (NKJV)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD.
